About Us
Veteran owned and operated, Coastal Ops is built by a team dedicated to teaching high level Jiu Jitsu. Located inside of the world class Beebe Trained Wrestling Academy in Pinellas Park Florida. We are excited to offer a unique BJJ experience to our members. Our core values are based around family, resilience, and a commitment to service. We provide a welcoming environment for all levels, where every member is valued and encouraged to grow. Meet your instructor
Professor Donald Lipscomb
Donald Lipscomb is a dedicated Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt with over 15 years of training experience. Born and raised in Pinellas County, FL, Donald began his Jiu-Jitsu journey locally under Mike Yanez and Eduardo De Lima. At 19 years old Donald joined the United States Coast Guard, he continued to pursue his passion for BJJ under the guidance of esteemed instructors like Professor Vinicius Draculino after relocating to Texas.
During his tenure as a United States Coast Guard Helicopter Rescue Swimmer, Donald's commitment to martial arts remained steadfast. He later transferred to North Carolina, where he trained under Professor Scott Oats, further refining his skills and techniques.
Transitioning careers to serve his community, Donald became an Albuquerque firefighter. During his time in New Mexico Donald trained at the world-renowned Jackson Wink MMA Academy where he was immersed in mixed martial arts. His dedication and perseverance culminated in the achievement of his black belt, awarded by Professor Rafael “Barata” de Freitas, marking a significant milestone in his BJJ career.
Beyond the mats, Donald Lipscomb is a devoted husband and father of four young grapplers, instilling his love for martial arts and its values in the next generation. He continues to embody the principles of discipline, resilience, and commitment to service, both in his professional life and through his contributions to the Jiu-Jitsu community.

Story
Get to Know Us
Donald and Drew Lipscomb met while they were both serving in the U.S. Coast Guard and have spent the last 12 years moving across the country, and growing their family. They are parents to four beautiful children and have brought them up in grappling since they were each very young. After watching their oldest daughter and son find a home for themselves on the mats in both BJJ and wrestling Donald was able to convince Drew to finally give Jiu Jitsu a try, and the rest is history. All four of their children are wrestlers and learn from the elite coaching staff at Beebe Trained Wrestling Academy. They are dedicated to sharing the true spirit of the grappling arts with everyone around them and are committed to making this into life long passion and legacy for their family.
